Trouble With The Abs

You've probably heard that "abs are made in the kitchen".

Yes, it is true. Thousands of crunches are not going to give you a flat stomach if you consume too many calories.

But another important factor, that only few talk about, is your natural build, determined by your genetics.

Some people, like me for example, have their abs visible even when not extra lean, because most of the fat I have, is stored in my legs and love handles.

If I get really lean, I have veins popping out in my stomach, but I still have quite a lot of fat in my legs, and yes, I have a cellulite as well. On the other hand, there are women with very lean and slender legs, but with a thicker waist and/or a bigger belly. And for some of them it will be really hard, if not impossible, to attain a six pack. I would have to drop a lot more weight to make my legs as lean as my stomach. It is possible, but in the process I would lose all the leftovers of my breast, the butt, all the curves, and most likely my sanity. So I don't find it worth a while.

Plus such a low body fat is not healthy, and it would be hard to stay on that level of leanness all year round.

Our bodies "choose" where they store the fat, and there's not much you can do about it, except embrace it.

I'm not here trying to crush your dreams and tell you to give up on your goals.

But get realistic about what can and can't be done.

There's always a room for improvement, but don't get fixated on things that can't be changed, and stop nit picking your "imperfections".

Rather than hating your body for all its "trouble spots", learn how to love it as a whole, and highlight your best assets instead.
